The world of the Mark Twain's novel is full of sarcastic and witty remarks about defects of the society that was the contemporary of Mark Twain. The real name of Mark Twain is Samuel Langhorne Clemens, he was born at the family of American tradesman who became judicial official till the end of his life. Family of Clemens lived in small village on the bench of Mississippi this place was extremely adored by Twain, and that is why most of the characters of his novels lived at the same place. Clemens were the landlords and one day they found out that there are a lot of necessary sources of minerals in their land, so they managed to sell it for good price and were able to provide their children with good education.
After finishing the school Samuel Clemens worked as a pilot on steamers that travelled round the Mississippi, that is where Samuel realised the life that was developed around the Mississippi. The years when Samuel worked as a pilot was a years of Clemens's first sign as Mark Twain under his narration. The pen name Mark Twain came from the professionalisms that overfilled the speech of the sailors. Mark Twain is translated as "the river's bottom is two sajenes away so the steamer may swim on".
Mark twain was a brilliant narrator and often speak on public reading his narrations, for some reasons people often asked him about England after he finished the narration, and that was the reason why next novels of Mark Twain concerned England not America. One of such novels was "The Prince and the Pauper" the story about two boys who were identical on their appearance but totally different by their lives and social situation. Not hard to realise that one of them was a prince and the other one was a pauper, one day they met and decided to switch places for some time. As it happened both boys faced with the world they have never knew before: the pauper realised that child unnecessary have to work hard all day long to provide himself with food, and that cloth may be changed several times a day, but not only when the old one becomes worthless; and the prince faced with the real world of sufferings and poverty that was hidden behind the curtain for him, and the realities of the real life stroke child's imagination and influenced his point of view on reign. This story is a reflection of common situation of any nation, when government simply can't see what is going on to their people, and people don't know that they may live better.
The Twain's gift for witty jokes resulted the situation that people failed to appreciate the fundamental work of the famous writer. The masterpiece of Mark Twain is "Tom Sawyer" considered being, this book so much adored by writers that Twain even wrote two more parts about Tom Sawyer. But, the master himself believed that the greatest masterpiece of his whole life was the "Autobiography" that remained unnoticed by readers. Sure there is no narrator who has never been scold by critics. Critics blamed Mark Twain in neglecting of all American values, and they were right in some sense, as in his stories about Tom Sawyer Twain sarcastically revealed all the defects of American society of that time.
